Make sure you prepare well for a smooth and successfull interview.Preparation
Be prepared! Preparation is the most important step towards a successful interview.
Know the location and the time of interview, along with the client's full name and their company title.
Do your research! Find out about the company — where the offices are located, what the business focus is and what business they are in, specific history and company facts. Company websites are a very good starting point for researching.
Morning/Evening Prior To Interview
Think of questions relating to your current position and employer.
Prepare to be asked if you have futher questions regarding the position or the company itself.
The Interview
You are being interviewed because your application has interested them.
The purpose of the interview is for both parties to establish the strengths and weaknesses of the position/applicant. It is extremely important that you communicate well in the interview as the interviewer is assessing your suitability to the company, team and position.
They will be looking at attitude, stability, and motivation. This is your chance to find out as much about the position as possible. Remember you too are interviewing them!
Do !
Arrive a few minutes early (no more that 15 minutes early). Arriving late does not create a good impression.
Introduce yourself and look directly at the person conducting the interview. Address the interviewer by name.
Remember to sell yourself and convince the interviewer that you are the best person for the position. Shake hands firmly and when asked questions ensure that you maintain eye contact and if there is more than one interviewer, try to address all parties equally.
Be prepared for questions like:
- What is your ideal job?
- Where do you want to be in 3-5years?
- What are your hobbies/interests?
- What are your qualifications?
- What attracted you to the position?
- Why would you like to work for our company?
- What is your current salary?
- How do you like to be managed?
- What have you enjoyed most about your previous positions?
- How do you work under pressure?
- What are the areas where you could improve?
- If we were to ask your current team mates about you, what do you think they would say about your work?
- What are your strengths?
Do not take over the interview, let the interviewer lead. Do not answer only with a “Yes” or “No” if possible.
Answer all questions asked with confidence.
The interviewer will be assessing you on:
- Personal appearance
- Attitude
- Communication
- Confidence and interest in the position
- Negativity towards previous employers
- Answering only with “Yes” or “No”
Questions that you may want to consider asking:
- Why is the position available.
- What type of person are they hoping to employ?
- Do they have a training program available?
- What are the company'. s future plans?
- What is the next step of the interview process?
Close The Interview
If you are interested in the position and are offered it on the spot, accept it. However if you are not sure, be polite and ask for some time to think about it, but be sure to thank them for the offer. Ensure that you give them a date and time that you will get back to them.
Ensure that you thank the interviewer for the time spent with you.
